Purpose of the Program

The program will prepare you, once graduated, to successfully find employment nationally as an Enrolled Nurse. Global professional employment opportunities will depend on the individual country recognition of the Enrolled Nurse qualification. The diverse courses and clinical placements offered in the program address health priorities and will enable you to seek employment in a variety of nursing disciplines.

The Enrolled nurse program of study supports students to achieve the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Enrolled nurse standards for practice. This ensures graduates are able to practice safely and competently with the required attitude, knowledge and skills.

The program's structure, design and content is dervived from the National Training Package and national practice standards. The sequencing of courses prepares students for workplace experience. Contemporary and evidence based approaches to enrolled nurse practice and education is underpinned by prinicples of safety and quality in health care.

It is a requirement for students to successfully complete all required courses prior to commencing their clinical placement experience.
In addition, students must successfully complete all courses and their clinical placement experience in order to proceed to the next semester of study.

Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses and the International Council of Nurses Code of Ethics is referenced repeatedly throughout the program, alongside wider standards and legal obligations. This approach ensures the responsiblilty of upholding professional values of nursing is maintained and enables provision of safe, quality and competent nursing care toward the people to whom you provide care, society and each other.
