The new Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation has been specifically designed as a pathway program into Initial Teacher Education programs eg. Bachelor of Education (Primary). The program has been created for people who may not meet the entry requirements into the Bachelor of Education and/or who want a career change. It focuses on the education environment, inclusive education, approaches to learning and the teaching profession.

Successful completion of C5422 Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation guarantees entry into the following RMIT programs:
Bachelor of Education (Primary and Early Childhood Education)
Bachelor of Education (Primary and Secondary)
Bachelor of Education (Primary)
The students will be eligible for 12 credit points of exemptions in Bachelor of Education programs BP320, subject to satisfactory completion of the Teacher Suitability Assessment (TSA)*
*All Bachelor of Education applicants must satisfactorily complete the Teaching Suitability Assessment (TSA). The assessment is designed to evaluate your non-academic attributes that are important to the teaching profession. If you have already developed areas of skill and knowledge included in this program (for example, through prior studies or work experience), you can apply for credit once you have enrolled in this program.

There are no entry requirements.
Successful completion of RMITs Certificate IV in School based Education Support guarantees entry into the Diploma of Teacher Education Preparation.
Entry Requirement for WIL:
Immunisation requirements – If placement is undertaken in Specialist Schools, Students will be required to meet the immunisation requirements as is required by DET for workers in Specialist schools

The Diploma is an accredited qualification designed as a pathway to a teaching degree. The Diploma program will give participants the opportunity to put their learning into practice with supervised vocational placement working collaboratively with teachers and students in school and community settings.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.

Library staff can show you how to find information for your assignments or you can work through web-based tutorials or use our online Ask a Librarian service.
