Purpose of the Program
The main objective of the Master of Engineering (Aerospace) program is to develop advanced knowledge and skills in aerospace engineering that will enhance your career prospects in the relevant industries. The program aims to provide you with skills to step up as project leaders, consultants and managers with the knowledge and skills to lead the introduction of new technologies and operating practices in aerospace and aviation organisations.
You will gain state of the art knowledge and skills in aerospace engineering and related technologies, combined with advanced oral and written communication, teamwork, design, project management and research skills.
At the completion of the program you will be equipped to further your career aspirations in aerospace engineering, operations, or consultancy in aviation, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, etc. as:
- R&D leader introducing new technologies and research and development
- Team Leader implementing operational strategies
- Operations Manager responsible for the competitive performance of a unit
- Consultant providing specialist technical advice to industry.
The program requires in-person attendance, but also takes advantage of the capabilities of Canvas, the online learning management system that is available to all students and provides scope for collaboration and remote access.
In this program you will undertake a capstone project with the 48 credit point course OENG1088 Master's Research Project (or the alternative of taking both of the 24 credit point courses OENG1089 Master's Research Project Part 1 and OENG1090 Master's Research Project Part 2). In this project you will consolidate and expand the knowledge gained throughout the program through an in-depth experimental and/or analytical study of a highly technical and/or engineering management application.
This program is primarily delivered in face-to-face mode at the City Campus. While most courses in the program are delivered on campus, others are delivered online.

Dual Award
The Master of Engineering (Aerospace) program has a dual masters agreement with the FH Aachen - University of Applied Sciences in Aachen, Germany.
Five students per year have the opportunity to take part in each of the dual masters programs, and would qualify to receive a master's degrees from both RMIT and the partner institution.
Eligibility and selection criteria for admission into the dual award apply as follows:
- Eligibility: Applicants must be currently enrolled in the single award program MC225 Master of Engineering (Aerospace)
- Selection: Academic merit (based on cumulative GPA)
Students who are interested in a dual master program need to discuss a suitable study plan with the MC225 Program Manager either before their first semester or in the first week of first semester, to ensure a suitable study plan is followed.
Formal application to the School will be due in the semester preceding your first semester at FH Aachen (either your second or third semester of study depending on the study plan chosen). The deadline for this will be communicated to you by the School.
Further support for this exchange will be available through RMIT's Global Mobility website.
International students who wish to transfer into the dual award must be aware of the impact on their student visa and post study work rights and should consider the following:
- Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) will be cancelled while studying in Germany. This may affect your Australian student visa.
- During the second year of studies, whilst in Germany, students will be required to pay fees to RMIT in accordance with the RMIT fee schedules and deadlines.
Information on student visas and post study work rights is available via the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
