The Master of Sustainable Practice program is established to meet the industry demand for professionals who have expertise in sustainability issues and a qualification in the fundamentals of sustainability.
The MSP suite of programs (Masters and Graduate Diploma) provides a forum for people with similar aims and questions to work together to explore solutions to sustainability problems. This program is established to meet the industry demand for professionals who have expertise in sustainability issues and a qualification in the fundamentals of sustainability.
The program explores the complexities of sustainability problems by bringing together people of similar interests, but who come from a range of discipline backgrounds. It provides the opportunity for proactive learning under the guidance of a mentor (see Learning and Assessment for further details), and for you to explore your personal aspirations in the context of your career.
You will learn from industry experts and fellow participants to equip yourself for professional practice in sustainability.

If you have a qualification in a relevant discipline at honours degree or postgraduate/masters level (AQF 8 or 9) you may be eligible for exemption of up to 48 credit points (equivalent to one semester of full time study)
Information is available on the RMIT University website about how to apply for Credit Transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) http://www.rmit.edu.au/students/enrolment/credit.
Upon completion of the first year of the program (96 credit points), including core courses, you will be eligible to exit the program with the Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Practice. If you wish to exit early with the Graduate Diploma you must have completed all 96 credit points or require a minimum amount of study at RMIT to get an RMIT award e.g. 48CP for a graduate diploma.
Upon successful completion of the Master of Sustainable Practice you may be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University subject to each program’s entry requirements. More specifically, you may be eligible to undertake further studies in Postgraduate Research Programs.

MC240 Master of Sustainable Practice will be discontinued and will no longer accept new students from Semester 2, 2019.
Program Entry Requirements
Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or international equivalent) that includes knowledge of sustainability practices.
Applicants who have a successfully completed a relevant degree (as above) with a GPA of at least 1.5 out of 4, will be considered if they have at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
OR
Successful completion of an Australian postgraduate qualification (or international equivalent) in a related discipline (as above).
OR
Applicants without any relevant prior qualification will be considered if they have at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
English Language Requirements
A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band below 6.0; or equivalent. For equivalents to English entry requirements, see the English equivalents web page.
Credit Transfer and Recognised Prior Learning

External Accreditation
The Master of Sustainable Practice is not accredited, although it has been developed to align with the Engineers Australia accreditation framework. Engineers Australia is the professional body responsible for the accreditation of higher education programs that prepare students to practise as professional engineers. Graduates of the Master of Sustainable Practice may be eligible to apply for membership of Engineers Australia. More details on membership of Engineers Australia can be found here.
Industry Links
Industry linkage is a vital component of the Master of Sustainable Practice suite of programs - and the School has well-established links with organisations such as the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and various water authorities through which students may engage in industry-based projects. Industry representatives who are experts in their particular field also run interactive modules throughout the program. In addition, many students are already working and able to bring industry awareness and professional engagement into classroom sessions.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.

Library resources and services
