Purpose of the Program
The objective of the program MC284 Master of Clinical Osteopathy is to produce graduates with the knowledge and clinical skills to undertake general osteopathic practice safely and competently. The program has been designed to align with the Australasian Osteopathic Accreditation Council education standards and builds on the foundational knowledge and skills you will have developed as part of your RMIT BP231OST Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Osteopathy) degree. It integrates theory and clinical sciences with clinical skills and application in a two-year, sequenced course structure. Graduates of the MC284 Master of Clinical Osteopathy program will be able to register as Osteopaths with the Australian Health Practicioner Agency (AHPRA).
You will be exposed to both real life and simulated clinical scenarios through the program, allowing you the opportunity to explore, integrate, and apply academic and practical knowledge. This activity is facilitated, supervised, and assessed by AHPRA Osteopathy Board of Australia registered practitioners. Work integrated learning opportunities are provided via the RMIT Health Sciences Clinic and/or similar clinical facilities. The capstone course REHA2264 Osteopathic Professional Practice Portfolio, undertaken in Semester 2 of your final year of study, prepares you for your transition to professional life, and is a culmination of prior osteopathic academic, clinical, and professional learning and experience.
Courses within the program utilise a mix of delivery modes including face-to-face, online and a combination of both. Whilst most courses in the program are delivered on-campus, others are delivered online, providing a flexible learning approach. Enrolment in the program is full-time only and requires on-campus attendance.
The program provides a basis for further education and research in health-related fields.
