2026 Enrolment Program Structure

To graduate you must complete the following. All courses listed may not be available each semester.

Year One of Program

The Master of Human Resource Management degree requires the completion of 192 credit points (CP) comprising of the following:

  • 10 Compulsory courses (120 CP)
  • 1 Capstone course (12 CP)
  • 4 Postgraduate Business and Law courses from the options list
  • Any 1 Postgraduate Elective course (12cp)

Please note: All courses listed may not be available each Semester, this is important to note when planning your enrolments. You must ensure that you satisfy the academic requirements of your program in order to graduate.

Capstone Courses

Capstone Courses are compulsory courses designed to consolidate the learning undertaken throughout the program and should be taken in your final semester of study. Please note: Applications for credit transfer or recognition of prior learning will not be accepted for Capstone courses.

Masters Advanced Standing

Your eligibility for masters advanced standing was assessed as part of the admissions process in line with the RMIT Credit Policy. Masters advanced standing will have been included in your offer letter if you were assessed as eligible and will show in your offer letter as course exemptions with MX grades.

If you have received masters advanced standing as part of the admissions process, you are required to complete twelve (12) courses (144 credit points) in order to qualify for the degree. Please refer to this program map for details.

If you have not received masters advance standing as part of the admissions process, you are required to complete sixteen (16) courses (192 credit points) in order to qualify for the degree. Please refer to this program map for details.

  • The Capstone course BUSM4448 Business Research Design has been replaced by the new course, BUSM4495 Contemporary issues in Strategic Human Resource Management.
  • If you have completed BUSM4448 Business Research Design before Semester 1 2025, it will be counted as your Capstone course in the program.
  • If you have not yet completed a Capstone course by Semester 1 2025, you must complete BUSM4495 Contemporary issues in Strategic Human Resource Management.

Changes from Semester 1, 2024

BUSM4498 Employment Relations from a Global Perspective has been replaced by BUSM2639 Foundations of People Analytics in Semester 1, 2024 as a core course.

BUSM4496 Human Resource Management for Entrepreneurship and Innovation has been replaced by BUSM2684 Predictive Human Resource Analytics in Semester 1 2024 as a core course.

If you have not successfully completed BUSM4496 Human Resource Management for Entrepreneurship and Innovation prior to Semester 2 2023, you must complete BUSM2684 Predictive Human Resource Analytics as a core course.

Changes from Semester 1, 2023

BUSM3229 Contemporary Issues in International Management will undergo a course title change to BUSM3229 Leadership Issues in International Management from Semester 1, 2023.

Enrolment Load

The maximum standard enrolment load per semester is 48 credit points.

Overloading

You will only be permitted to overload by a maximum of 12 credit points in the final semester of your program, upon approval from the College.
