Purpose of the Program
Certificate IV in Cyber Security is a technician-level course. It provides participants with knowledge and a range of technical skills to enable them to seek employment as cyber security technicians in a range of organisations and government bodies.
Graduates of the course will be able to seek employment as cyber security practitioners in a range of commercial enterprises/organisations and government bodies.
The program objectives are:
- To gain a comprehensive set of technical skills in Cyber Security
- To develop skills and knowledge in network fundamentals, communication and research, understanding the need for cybersecurity and monitoring the risk of cyber-attacks
- To develop the skills to use a range of software and tools and procedures to mitigate cyber threats, protect an organisation from insider security breaches and develop systems to minimise network vulnerabilities and risks
- To enable graduates to seek employment as a cybersecurity practitioner in a range of commercial enterprises, organisations and government bodies
- To provide a pathway for you into the Associate Degree in Information Technology

Information Technology Program Advisory Committee
The Future Technology cluster has a very strong Industry Advisory Committee, which is the main link between the program and industry. Membership includes staff from ICT Industries based locally. The committee provides feedback on the currency of our programs, and the changing needs of industry and has input into the design of new programs. It also actively contributes to the cluster through participation in industrial seminars and visits, marketing events, industry awards and scholarships.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
