Purpose of the Program

The Diploma of Leadership and Management is part of a dual qualification that also includes the Diploma of Business. 

The dual diploma model has been specifically developed for learners with little or no vocational experience who want to develop some theoretical sports-related business skills and knowledge to create further educational and employment opportunities.

The training will occur at the Melbourne Cricket Education Academy's elite high-performance facilities and will involve key industry experts in the area of sport and business/leadership.

Articulation and pathways

Successful completion of the Diploma of Leadership and Management and the Diploma of Business guarantees entry into the Bachelor of Business with a minimum of 96 credit points exemption (equivalent to one-year full-time study).

Entrance requirements

Applicants are advised to apply for the C5407MCE Diploma of Leadership and Management, and if successful, applicants will be made an offer for both the Diploma of Leadership and Management (C5407MCE) and the Diploma of Business (C5406MCE). 

Applicants must meet one of the following minimum academic requirements:

Successful completion of Australian Year 12 (or equivalent) or the Australian Senior VCAL Certificate 

OR 

Completion of Post-Secondary studies (Certificate III or above) 

OR

At least 6 months’ work experience in a related field

Entry to this program may be competitive. Eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement, e.g., ATAR, GPA or STAT Multiple Choice (including any adjustments).

External accreditation and industry links

RMIT University in conjunction with Melbourne Cricket Education Academy selected the Diploma of Leadership & Management and the Diploma of Business programs, including the choice of units to be included in a dual diploma. Furthermore, the program structure and the choice of units appropriate for the dual diploma were endorsed by representatives of a business industry advisory board and RMIT educators.

Teachers delivering in this program are current industry practitioners and specialise in the courses that they deliver. This, together with incorporating sporting industry experts, will provide students with contextualised learning and assessment experiences.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.  Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.

Library resources and services

As a student enrolled in a program at RMIT University you can access the extensive services, facilities and study space provided by the Library. You can access books, journals and other course related materials, such as DVDs, past exams, newspapers and e-books. Through our document delivery service you can also request items from any library in the world.

Computers for study are available at every Library site, where you can access the Internet, myRMIThttps://www.rmit.edu.au/students or Library e-resources. If you have a laptop you can access the RMIT University wireless network in the Library.

Library staff can show you how to find information for your assignments or you can work through web-based tutorials or use our online Ask a Librarian service.

The Library is continually expanding our electronic collections to make it easier for you to get the information you need when you need it. All RMIT University students have unlimited access to quality electronic resources such as, e-books, e-journals and newspapers.
