Purpose of the Program

The Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management is an early exit point for those enrolled in the Master of Human Resource Management. The program aims to broaden knowledge and skills for students entering with a qualification in an unrelated discipline, while students from a related discipline will deepen their existing knowledge and skills.

The Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management provides you with the knowledge and skills required by today's human resource (HR) professionals to effectively contribute in small and medium enterprises and multinational corporations.It also provide you with the capacity to address the human resource issues and critically evaluate the impacts of decisions and practice through case studies and interactive and experiential learning activities. 

The program is designed for those who would like to enter the HR industry with no formal HR qualifications.

Articulation and pathways

Students who successfully complete the RMIT Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management will articulate into the Master of Human Resource Management and will be exempted from completing the four (4) Business Enabling courses and the four (4) discipline courses completed in the Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management, and will be required to complete eight (8) courses (96 credit points) in order to qualify for the degree.

GC161 Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management is also an exit award for the Master of Human Resource Management. It is available to students upon successful completion of the four (4) courses (48 credit points) specified in the program structure.

Credit will be assessed consistently with the RMIT University credit policy and procedures.

Entrance requirements

Entrance Requirement

An Australian bachelor degree or equivalent, or higher level qualification, in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.

If you do not meet the above entry requirement for the Graduate Certificate you may be considered if you have a minimum of 5 years work experience.

Business practitioners, lecturers from industry, guest speakers and industry-relevant projects underpin the work integrated learning components of this program. An advisory board ensures current standards and practice are reflected in this program.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.  Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
