Prior to 2016 Required Prior Study
You must have satisfactorily completed the prerequisite courses MKTG1320 Valuation Process and Methods and OMGT2239 Investment Valuation Methods before you commence this course.
Alternatively, you may be able to demonstrate the required skills and knowledge before you start this course.

This course will build on the knowledge and skills you have developed in Valuation Processes and Methods and Investment Valuation methods. This capstone course brings together the skills and discipline knowledge you require to value specialist properties.
Please note that if you take this course for a bachelor honours program, your overall mark in this course will be one of the course marks that will be used to calculate the weighted average mark (WAM) that will determine your award level. (This applies to students who commence enrolment in a bachelor honours program from 1 January 2016 onwards. See the WAM information web page for more information.)
This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.
Objectives/Learning Outcomes/Capability Development
In this course you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
1 Determine and apply knowledge of complex property and valuation theory to your professional practice and/or further study
2 Professionally communicate to a range of audiences, demonstrating in depth knowledge of the discipline and of the needs of diverse property and valuation stakeholders
3 Apply logical, critical and creative thinking to analyse, synthesise and apply theoretical knowledge, and technical skills, to formulate evidenced based solutions to industry problems or issues
4 Utilise appropriate methods and techniques to design and /or execute research based or professionally focused property or valuation projects, demonstrating capacity for independent and collaborative learning, addressing real world industry issues
5 Collaborate effectively with others and demonstrate intellectual independence and autonomy to solve problems and/or address industry issues and imperatives
6 Critically examine and reflect on the profession , in local and/or global contexts, and question accepted interpretations and decision making
Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to:
- Apply valuation techniques to determine the market value of a range of specialist property types
- •Select and apply valuation techniques to determine the impact of legislative and environmental factors on property value
- Research and produce a professional valuation report and verbally communicate and defend the outcome
- Analyse and apply valuation principles, techniques and the profession’s ethical standards to accurately value a range of property types
- Critically analyse and apply industry standards to address specialisit valuation scenarios

You will be assessed on how well you meet the course’s learning outcomes and on your development against the program learning outcomes.
Assessment may include class exercises, test, assignments and final exam.
Assessment Task 1: Industrial and Commercial Property Task, 18%
Assessment Task 2: Retail Property Task, 19%
Assessment Task 3: Subdivision and Aged Care Valuations 18%
Assessment Task 4: Exam 45%
Feedback will be given on all assessment tasks.
