Course Description
In this course you will extend your creative concepts, techniques and technical skills in textile design development to plan and create textile design folios, including further use of electronic files. Using computer-aided design (CAD) programs to produce textile design folios. You will develop and manipulate folio content to meet the different requirements of a client, brief and/or design specification and allow you to present and promote textile design concepts to clients or other industry professionals. This course consists of 2 Units of Competency that are clustered together for delivery and assessment. The other Unit of Competency in this clustered course is - MSTTD4008 Present and promote textile design concepts

On successful completion of this course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to use a range Software (CAD) programs to produce textile design folios, manipulate images and content of folio to meet different industry requirements or processes.

Assessment Tasks
Assessment Task 1: The NAS Cushion Brief Due date: Friday 4th of August
This is an industry driven brief for New Academic Street RMIT City campus. Students are required to create printed designs in response to the Past, Present, Future theme. The selected designs will be used as cushions for the rocking chairs in NAS for the opening of the new space.
Assessment Task 2: Designing From the Everyday
The purpose of this brief is to develop a range of repeat systems using Photoshop and Illustrator. Inspiration will come from every day, almost mundane sources, to be developed through shape distortion and motif development into a series of digital designs. The collection will be presented in a digital portfolio and incorporate two storyboard images to display the end use of the design.
Assessment Task 3: (Un)natural
This brief is intended to develop storyboard and presentation skills. Taking elements from nature, a cohesive range of designs will be developed through digital manipulation and then displayed in a way that shows the features of the design through the development of storyboards and visual tools. The final outcome will be a digital portfolio and verbal presentation of design concepts and processes.
