Course Description

In this course you will acquire the skills and knowledge required to assist with planning, organising and rehearsing productions. This involves confirming roles with required personnel, assisting the running of dress rehearsals, and assisting with production operations.

On successful completion of this course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate competency in the above elements. 


Details of Learning Activities

In class activities will include a range of teacher directed group activities, projects, class exercises, review discussions/lectures and independent project based work.

Out-of-class activities include completion of individual design and pre-production work, preparation for class presentations and production work. Online research and occasional outside of class time group discussions will be required to maintain project work.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral/written presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on CANVAS.


Assessment Tasks

o demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assessment tasks to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback on all assessments and once you have demonstrated competency you will also receive a result after your final assessment task.

 

Assessment Tasks

Assessment Task 1 (Practical): Top of the Show (calling cues). You will be expected to actively participate in a pre-production (planning) meeting with others – this shall include a brief safety briefing (“toolbox” meeting). Due by Week 5, Semester 1.

Assessment Task 2 (Project): Contribute to Two Projects. This task requires you to participate in, and contribute to, two separate live performances that involve production. Then, you must submit 1 x post-production-reflection (written assignment), 2 photographs, one show-document and minutes of a post-production meeting. Due by Week 3, Semester 2.

Assessment Task 3: Knowledge quiz. Demonstrate your knowledge on the unit. Due by Week 4, Semester 2.
