Course Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead teams in the workplace and to actively engage with the management of the organisation.
The unit applies to individuals working at a managerial level who lead and build a positive culture within their work teams. At this level, work will normally be carried out using complex and diverse methods and procedures requiring the exercise of considerable discretion and judgement. It will also involve using a range of problem solving and decision-making strategies.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Details of Learning Activities
The delivery of this subject will be face to face on-campus.
The activities will include some elements of lecture style, some research-based and self directed learning. There will be a large part of the activities incorporating role play and scenario based problem solving exercises.
The emphasis will be mainly on interactive learning using online resources written explicitly for this course which is focused on Managing Team Effectiveness and is applicable in everyday Logistics operations.

Performance Evidence
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including evidence of the ability to:
- manage the effectiveness of at least one work team.
In the course of the above, the candidate must:
- provide feedback to encourage, value and reward others
- model desired behaviour and practices
- encourage and foster shared understanding of purpose, roles and responsibilities
- support team to meet expected performance outcomes including providing formal and informal learning opportunities as needed
- develop performance plans with key performance indicators (KPIs), outputs and goals for individuals or the team which incorporate input from stakeholders
- communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders about team performance plans and team performance
- evaluate and take necessary corrective action regarding unresolved issues, concerns and problems raised by internal or external stakeholders.

The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge to complete the tasks outlined in the elements, performance criteria and foundation skills of this unit, including knowledge of:
- impacts of group dynamics on team performance

Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational education and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

Assessment Tasks
Assessment Task 1 - Planning a Team Training Day & Knowledge Test
Purpose
This practical assessment task is the first of two assessment tasks you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this cluster.
This combined practical and knowledge assessment will allow you to demonstrate knowledge of planning for a Team to operate Effectively. By putting yourself in the role of Training Manager of the team about to come together for an important Training Day – you will be provided the opportunity to demonstrate clearly how you can apply the knowledge you have gained by undertaking and completing this practical planning task in Part A.
In Part B, you will provide answers to questions about Team theories and how you have applied these in the construction of your answers to the questions in Part A
Assessment Task 2 - Participate in Training Day activities with Pre and Post Planning tasks
Purpose
This practical assessment task is the second of two assessment tasks you need to complete satisfactorily, in order to be deemed competent for this cluster.
This practical assessment will allow you to demonstrate by preparing information, participating and responding to the Team Training Day. By putting yourself in the role of one of the many attendees/ participants of this important Training Day acting in the role this time as a Logistics & Safety Coordinator.
By your participation you will be provided the opportunity to demonstrate how you would perform and use your knowledge by carrying out this.
