Purpose of the Program

The Bachelor of Commerce develops a broad range of business skills and knowledge to meet the expectations of employers and to support further learning.

The program provides you with a broad and coherent body of knowledge in the basic business competencies across the disciplines of economics, accounting, finance, marketing, business computing, management and commercial law. You may also choose to specialise in a particular business area to gain in depth knowledge of the underlying principles and concepts in that discipline. You may specialise in the areas of Management, Marketing, Accountancy, Business Information System, Entrepreneurship, or Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

This program offers you a basis for independent lifelong learning. You will develop practical cognitive, technical, creative and communication skills relevant to business. Besides discipline-specific knowledge, you will learn how to use your initiative and judgment, and to build your knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis in professional and personal settings.

On completion of this program you will be work-ready to seek employment or you may choose to undertake further study. If you choose to further study, RMIT University offers pathways from this degree into higher levels of learning.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.  Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.

All RMIT University students have unlimited access to quality electronic resources such as e-books, e-journals, newspapers, and streaming media. Library staff can show you how to find information for your assignments, or you can work through Library subject guides and web-based tutorials, or use our online Ask a Librarian service. 

Computers for study are available at every Library site and wireless access is available if you are working from a laptop or mobile device.
