Top of pagePurpose of the Program
The Bachelor of Business Professional Practice is a four-year program that combines the development of academic business knowledge and professionalism courses with multiple direct industry engagement experiences of your choice from year two of the program. You will study professional business theory alongside confidence building practical work-based periods to transition into professional careers and/or undertake higher learning. Career development learning is scaffolded across all four years of the program.
The central focus of the Bachelor of Business Professional Practice degree is to mix theoretical business knowledge and through the career building and professional development courses prepare you to graduate with not only discipline knowledge and skills but also the important professional transferable skills needed to participate in the workforce attained through workplace experiences. This knowledge and skills will enable you to analyse information to evaluate impact on the business and recommend innovative solutions to business related problems and projects.
You will also complete five professional development courses aimed at building your own self-awareness and career building skills that will prepare you for the workplace experiences you will undertake in years two to four of your program. The workplace experiences will provide you with critical non-technical skills such as teamworking, cultural awareness within a multi-cultural local, national or global workplace environment and key professional industry integration of discipline knowledge and practices.
Your journey through the program from discipline specific learning, career development opportunities and workplace experiences will be stored in your curated ePortfolio of artefacts which can be used to demonstrate your learning journey, career decision making and workplace experiences to prospective employers.
The Bachelor of Business Professional Practice program culminates in year four with the completion of a unique capstone experience in BUSM4823 Business Research Lab, where you will bring your discipline-based knowledge into a multi-disciplinary project creating reports addressing important international business-related problems or issues that are significant from a global perspective. As a graduate, the capstone course provides you with evidence of accomplishing within a multi-disciplinary work environment a recognisable contribution to the multifaceted context of business and the disciplines represented.
