2026 Enrolment Program Structure

To graduate you must complete the following. All courses listed may not be available each semester.

Year One of Program
AND Year Two of Program
AND Year Three of Program

The Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) degree requires completion of 24 x 12 credit points of study, which includes 8 business common core courses, 8 Accountancy major courses and 8 flexible courses.

8 flexible courses allow you to undertake one of the following three options:

  • Option A: Complete a second major in a business discipline comprising 8 courses (or 96 credit points). The second major will be identified on your transcript of results; OR
  • Option B: Complete two (2) minors in a business discipline comprising of four (4) courses (or 48 credit points) each; OR
  • Option C: Complete a minor in a business discipline comprising four (4) courses (or 48 credit points), and four (4) university electives. University Elective courses can be from any discipline area within RMIT University.

If you choose Option B or Option C you MUST complete a full Business minor/s.

Capstone Courses

Capstone Courses are compulsory courses designed to consolidate the learning undertaken throughout the program and should be taken in your final semester of study. Applications for credit transfer or recognition of prior learning will not be accepted for Capstone courses.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The BP254 Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) program has been formally discontinued from Semester 2, 2022.

Changes from Semester 1, 2024

The following two (2) courses will no longer be offered from Semester 1 2024:

  1. ECON1010 Macroeconomics 1
  2. ECON1020 Prices and Markets

The above two (2) courses will be replaced by the following two (2) courses from Semester 1 2024:

  1. ECON1607 Economics Quantitative Analysis
  2. ACCT2343 Accounting Data Analysis and Visualisation
  • If you have completed ECON1010 Macroeconomics 1 and/ or ECON1020 Prices and Markets prior to Semester 1 2024, you are not required to complete ECON1607 Economics Quantitative Analysis and ACCT2343 Accounting Data Analysis and Visualisation.
  • If you have not completed ECON1010 Macroeconomics 1 and/ or ECON1020 Prices and Markets prior to Semester 1 2024, you are required to complete ECON1607 Economics Quantitative Analysis and ACCT2343 Accounting Data Analysis and Visualisation.

Changes From Semester 1, 2023

  • ECON1010 Macroeconomics 1 and ECON1020 Prices and Markets will be replaced by ECON1607 Economics and Quantitative Analysis and ACCT2343 Accounting Data Analysis and Visualisation
  • If you have completed ECON1010 Macroeconomics 1 and/or ECON1020 Prices and Markets prior to Semester 1 2023, these changes do not apply to you and you are not required to complete ECON1607 Economics Quantitative Analysis and/or ACCT2343 Accounting Data Analysis and Visualisation.
  • If you have not completed ECON1010 Macroeconomics 1 and have completed ECON1020 Prices and Markets prior to Semester 1 2023, you are required to complete ECON1607 Economics Quantitative Analysis.
  • If you have not completed ECON1020 Prices and Markets and have completed ECON1010 Macroeconomics 1 prior to Semester 1 2023, you are required to complete ECON1607 Economics Quantitative Analysis.
  • If you have not completed ECON1010 Macroeconomics 1 and ECON1020 Prices and Markets prior to Semester 1 2023, you are required to complete ECON1607 Economics Quantitative Analysis and ACCT2343 Accounting Data Analysis and Visualisation.

Semester 1 2022 was the final intake for BP254 Bachelor of Business (Accountancy).

The BP254 Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) is currently accredited by CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants until 31 December 2023; and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales indefinitely. The program was accredited by the Singapore Accountancy Commission until 25 October 2021. The College of Business and Law will seek ongoing professional accreditation of BP254 Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) until the end of the teach out period.

Options for teach out have been provided below:

Option 1 - Remain in your current program

If you remain in your current program, you must complete the program by the end of Semester 2, 2030.

Please refer to the course teach-out schedule for your current program, available via Enrolment Online (EOL), to help you plan your enrolment.

If you commenced the program before Semester 1 2022, please refer to the following transition rules:

  • If you have completed LAW2442 Commercial Law, you do not need to complete LAW2442 Business Law, as this is a course title change only.
  • If you have completed ACCT1077 Financial Accounting Theory, you do not need to complete ACCT1077 Critical Accounting Perspectives, as this is a course title change only.
  • If you have completed ACCT1028 Performance Analysis and Simulations, you do not need to complete ACCT1028 Strategic Accounting and Leadership, as this is a course title change only.
  • If you have completed ACCT1060 Management Accounting and Business, you do not need to complete ACCT1060 Managerial Advisory Finance, as this is a course title change only.
  • Option 2 - Transfer to the BP351 Bachelor of Accounting or any other RMIT program

    Option 3 - Transfer to the BP343 Bachelor of Business (3yr degree) or any other RMIT program

    Note: a major in accounting is not available in the Bachelor of Business. Entry will be subject to maintaining satisfactory academic progress.

Enrolment Load

The maximum standard enrolment load per semester is 48 credit points.

Overloading

You will only be permitted to overload by a maximum of 12 credit points in the final semester of your program, upon approval from the College.

Credit and Pathways

If you have completed an RMIT College of Business Vocational Education program and you are continuing your studies into an RMIT College of Business and Law Higher Education program, you will be eligible to receive advanced standing for approved courses.
